West Texas House

West Texas

This low lying house is designed to fit into its limestone based hillside with a long ledge cut into the hill from which a board formed wall of concrete acts as both retention wall and encourage a cooler interior environment. Low shed roofs with upturned edges direct rainwater into cisterns. Deep set porches with Ocatilla “lattice” provide shelter from Western Sun while allowing expansive views of the ancient seabed landscape beyond.
